First Run!

Today was my first run and it was a success!
I decided to run outside because running on a treadmill is kind of boring.

I did a 30 minute interval running which was a couples miles. I would have loved to go further but my face felt like it was about to freeze off. Hopefully, as the weather warms up, running will become a little easier.
15 degrees... definitely not the best weather to run in, but the view was great!

First Workout Day!

Today was a great day!

Breakfast was one of my muffins I made yesterday, and a strawberry peach banana protein smoothie!

For lunch, I had a veggie pita. I took a Flatout brand pita and stuffed it full of lettuce, tomato, tofu, and 1 slice of cheese and a little mustard. Then I made some soup to go with it.

About an hour after lunch, I went to the gym. Today was leg and ab day.
Work out:
Legs:
180 lb. leg presses - 3 sets of 10
30 squats
30 hamstring curls
30 calf raises

Abs:
25 crunches
25 side crunches (both sides)
30 second plank
30 second side plank (both sides)
25 crunches
25 side crunches (both sides)

Cardio:
Biking - 45 minutes
8.70 miles - Up Hill

For a snack after, I had pretzel crisps and peanut butter with some peach tea.

For dinner, I had a huge spinach salad and a small side of veggie pasta.

Tomorrow is my first run! Super nervous but excited! I have never been a runner.. ever, so this is new and exciting. Hopefully I won't fall on the treadmill, though. That would really suck. Haha

Prep Day!

Today's prep day!
I woke up early and went to the grocery store to get every thing I need for this weeks meals.

When I got home, I got to baking!

I made these whole grain blueberry muffins for breakfast this week! They are so delicious and only about 130 calories per muffin!

While the muffins were baking, I made this weeks smoothie bags to keep in the freezer. I filled each bag up with berries, peaches and a half a banana. Just pop one of these in the blender, add some yogurt or milk and a little protein powder and it makes a perfect smoothie!

Work outs start tomorrow! Super excited!

Welcome to Rabbit Food & Running Shoes!

Welcome to Rabbit Food & Running Shoes!
I have come to the point where I am done sitting on the side line of my own life. I am taking charge of my health and fitness! It's going to be a long journey but it's time to get started!

I have my gym bag packed and ready to go, and my fitness calender planned out all the way through February. My biggest focus this next month is cardio. It's my weakest spot, but I am so determined to be able to run! I hope by the end of this summer I will be running my first 5k!

Adding to my new fitness routine is my new eating habits! This is the section of my life I am needing to change the most. I have been a vegetarian for 6 years now. However, I never seemed to eat vegetables.. hmm. That's going to change! Meal planning is underway.

I know this journey is going to be long and difficult at times, but I'm excited for this new chapter in my life!
